Cllr Claire Canavan

Councillor Claire Canavan grew up in the Clonard area and is a mother of a one-year-old boy.

Claire worked as a barrister for seven years before becoming a political advisor to former MLA Fra McCann. She then became a policy advisor to the Sinn Féin Assembly team. Claire has served the people of Clonard, Springfield, Mountainview and the Dales as a council- lor on Belfast City Council since 2018.

She is currently the Chair of the West Belfast Policing and Community Safety Partnership, sits on the People & Communities Committee and is the party lead on the Licensing Committee in Council.

Claire is a committee member of Clonard Residents Association and is also the Chairperson of the Greater Falls Community Safety Forum.
