Clear policies needed to protect vulnerable children – Baker

Sinn Féin MLA Danny Baker has called for the Department of Education to work with health professionals, educators, and families to create clear policies protecting vulnerable children.

The party’s spokesperson for children and young people was speaking after the Royal College of Nursing’s resignation from a task-force on restraint and seclusion in schools.

Danny Baker said:

“The resignation of the Royal College of Nursing from the Department of Education’s task-force to look at the use of restraint and seclusion in schools raises serious questions for the department.

“The Department of Education must urgently engage with health professionals, educators and families to ensure clear and consistent policies that protect vulnerable children are in place.”
