Dolan welcomes pay agreement for civil service workers

26 March 2025

Sinn Féin MLA Jemma Dolan has welcomed a pay rise for civil service workers in the north.

She was speaking after Finance Minister John O’Dowd announced the news today.

It will see a consolidated increase of 3% for the majority of civil service workers from 1 August, 2024, and a 6% consolidated increase to take effect from 1 August, 2025.

“Ensuring public sector workers have fair pay and good working conditions has been a day one priority for the entire Executive, and I am delighted at today’s announcement,” said the party’s public finances spokesperson.

“This pay deal reaffirms the north’s civil service as a Living Wage Employer and will see those on the lowest pay grades receive an increase to £12.60 an hour.

“This underlines the commitment to delivering equality and fairness in public sector pay and I also welcome the intention by the Finance Minister to further strengthen maternity and adoption pay entitlements later this year.

“Sinn Féin in the Executive will continue to prioritise fair pay and a brighter future for workers and families.”
