Gildernew welcomes investment into co-ownership

Sinn Féin MLA Colm Gildernew has welcomed a £153 million investment into the Co-Ownership Housing Association.

It follows the funding being allocated to the Communities Minister by Finance Minister John O’Dowd to help more families purchase their own homes.

The additional funding is expected to support 4,000 families to purchase their own homes.

“This is a welcome step and will help thousands more families own a home over the next four years,” said the party’s communities spokesperson.

“The Executive is committed to tackling housing waiting lists and building more homes, despite the scarce funding available due to British government cuts.

“Ensuring everyone has access to a safe, secure and affordable home is a priority for Sinn Féin, and we will continue working with the other parties to make this a reality.”
