Latest Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities appalling – Donnchadh Ó Laoghaire TD

5 April 2025

Sinn Féin spokesperson on Foreign Affairs, Donnchadh Ó Laoghaire, has said that the attack on Kryvyi Rih demonstrated once again the terrible aggression of Russia and Vladimir Putin.

Speaking today, Teachta Ó Laoghaire said:

“This latest attack on the people of the Ukraine, who have suffered immensely during the three years of Putin’s war of aggression, is appalling.

“It has led to the deaths of at least 14 people, including six children. It demonstrates once again the deep-seated aggression of the Russian regime, which is once again targeting civilians in President Zelenskyy’s home city.

“During the week, I expressed my concern that Vladimir Putin was attempting to drag out and frustrate attempts to move towards a ceasefire, and contravene the agreements that had been in place in relation to energy infrastructure.

“This is a further example of these attempts, and it is difficult to in any way conceive that Vladimir Putin is working towards a peaceful settlement.

“The international community, including Ireland, must continue to exert all possible pressure on Russia to negotiate in real terms – any peace must be on the basis of just and sustainable settlement with Ukraine at the negotiating table.”
