Reilly expresses condolences following passing of John Cooney

Sinn Féin MLA Aisling Reilly has expressed her condolences to the family, fiancé and friends of John Cooney following his tragic passing.
The 28-year-old boxer suffered a brain haemorrhage during his defence of his Celtic super-featherweight title in the Ulster Hall February 1.
“John Cooney was a talented boxer with a bright future ahead of him.
“It is heartbreaking to hear of his tragic passing.”
Miss Reilly also paid tribute to the medical staff who worked so hard to try and save John’s life.
“The staff at the Royal Victoria Hospital worked tirelessly to try and save John’s life.”
The West Belfast MLA continued: “My thoughts go out to his family, fiancé Emmaleen, and all his friends during this incredibly difficult time. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.”
