Senator Maria McCormack and Sinn Féin President Mary Lou McDonald to host public meeting on endometriosis in Portlaoise

16 April 2025

Senator Maria McCormack is proud to announce a public meeting as part of her ongoing Endometriosis Campaign, aimed at raising awareness and demanding better healthcare services for women living with the debilitating condition.

The event will take place on Wednesday, 23rd April 2025 at 7PM in the Killeshin Hotel, Portlaoise. It will feature powerful testimonies and insights from campaigners and advocates, including Paula ByrneJess Ní Mhaoláin, and Sarah Jane Allen.

Uachtarán Shinn Féin Mary Lou McDonald will join Senator McCormack to lend her support and solidarity to this crucial cause.

Speaking ahead of the event, Senator McCormack said:

“Endometriosis is one of the most underdiagnosed and misunderstood conditions affecting women in Ireland today. For too long, women have suffered in silence, dismissed or ignored by a broken healthcare system.

“This campaign is about giving women a voice, demanding proper services, and ensuring no one is left behind.”

The public meeting will serve as a platform for women and families to share their experiences, ask questions, and push for urgent policy change to ensure timely diagnosis, appropriate care pathways, and investment in specialist services.

Members of the public, healthcare professionals, and media are invited to attend.
