Sinn Féin nominate Aengus Ó Snodaigh TD as Ceann Comhairle – Mary Lou McDonald TD

Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald TD has announced that the party has nominated Aengus Ó Snodaigh as the Ceann Comhairle of the 34th Dáil.

Teachta Ó Snodaigh submitted his nomination papers this morning. The new Dáil is scheduled to meet for the first time next Wednesday when a vote is expected to take place for the position.

Ms McDonald said:

“I am delighted to announce that we have nominated Teachta Aengus Ó Snodaigh as Ceann Comhairle. Aengus is an outstanding parliamentarian, legislator, public representative, proud gaeilgeoir and champion of the arts, heritage and culture. He has nearly 23 years’ experience in the Dáil having been first elected as TD in 2002.

“Aengus has a sharp intellect and has a first-rate understanding of parliamentary process and procedures. He is highly respected right across the Oireachtas community

“Aengus Ó Snodaigh would carry out the duties of Ceann Comhairle fairly in the public interest and work tirelessly to ensure the Dáil operates effectively in service of the people.”
