Sinn Féin Councillor Edel Moran is demanding urgent clarity regarding the failure to comply with building regulations at Oscar Traynor Woods.
Speaking today, Cllr. Moran said:
“Sinn Féin is demanding urgent clarity regarding the failure to comply with building regulations at Oscar Traynor Woods.
“There can be no further delays. People in this area are crying out for affordable housing so to learn yesterday that works have been paused is disheartening to so many.
“Developers cannot cut corners, building regulations must be adhered to. People deserve good, quality housing.
“Sinn Féin councillors have tried to get information from the developer since this project began regarding all the issues local residents have raised with us, with no response from Glenveagh.
“We want to know the extent and nature of the issues discovered by the Building Control Authority, how and when they are going to be resolved, along with who will foot the bill.
“It is no surprise that there are already issues – this is a project where public land was gifted to private developers for profit.
“We know what FF-FG prioritises when it comes to social and so-called “affordable” housing – big profits for developers and landlords at the expense of the public purse and the working class.”
