Vacancy levels in new Boot Road Primary Health Care Centre unacceptable – Mark Ward TD
8 April 2025
Sinn Féin spokesperon for Dublin, Mark Ward TD, has described the level of vacancies in a new state of the art local public health care centre as unacceptable.
Deputy Ward was speaking about vacancy levels of the new Boot Road Primary Health Care Centre in Clondalkin.
Vacancies ranged from 14% to 87% across job positions.
Teachta Ward said:
“The new Boot Road Primary Health Care Centre finally opened last year.
“This is a modern, state of the art facility that is really needed in Clondalkin.
“However, it’s pointless having a brand-new shiny building if you haven’t got the staff to provide the services the area needs.
“I received a response from the HSE that reveal unacceptable vacancy levels in the new Boot Road Primary Health Care Centre.
“Vacancy levels varied across job positions, but no position seems to be adequately staffed.
“A third of speech language posts in the centre are vacant.
“60% of psychology posts are vacant.
“A shocking 87% of occupational posts are vacant. While our local area is crying out for occupational therapy services.
“These vacancy levels are unacceptable.
“This new centre is a really welcome addition to the community, but it needs to be adequately staffed.
“I will be writing to the Minister for Health to ask her to outline her plan to adequately staff the primary health care centre.”
