Sinn Féin spokesperson on Workers’ Rights, Johnny Guirke TD, has today praised the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) for its recent efforts in protecting workers’ rights.
The WRC’s annual report revealed that, last year, the court recovered €2.1m in unpaid wages after conducting 5,156 inspections across workplaces nationwide, and Deputy Guirke called for ongoing support for workers’ rights initiatives.
Teachta Guirke said:
“Every worker deserves to be paid fairly for their work.
“The WRC’s work in recovering over €2m in unpaid wages is a clear sign that enforcement of workers’ rights is essential. No one should be left out or shortchanged in their employment rights.
“These figures show that when the WRC steps in, they make a real difference. We must ensure that all workers feel protected and confident in their rights.
“Sinn Féin will continue to advocate for stronger protections and enforcement mechanisms to ensure everyone gets the wages they’ve earned, without fear or delay.”
